Job Description: Hotel General Manager_Pudong

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Hotel General Manager to lead our premium hotel located in Pudong, Shanghai. Our property is committed to delivering exceptional guest experiences and maintaining industry-leading service standards in one of China’s most vibrant business and tourism hubs.
Job Summary
The Hotel General Manager will be fully responsible for the overall operation, financial performance, and strategic development of the hotel. You will lead a cross-functional team to drive guest satisfaction, employee engagement, and revenue growth, while upholding the hotel’s brand reputation and aligning operations with local market demands in Shanghai.
Key Responsibilities
1. Develop and execute strategic business plans to achieve financial targets (revenue, profit, cost control) and key performance indicators (KPIs) such as occupancy rate, average daily rate (ADR), and guest satisfaction scores.
2. Oversee all hotel departments (front office, housekeeping, food & beverage, sales, finance, human resources) to ensure smooth daily operations and consistent service quality.
3. Lead, mentor, and develop the management team and staff; implement effective training programs and performance evaluation systems to enhance employee engagement and retention.
4. Build and maintain strong relationships with local clients, corporate partners, tourism boards, and community stakeholders to expand the hotel’s customer base and market presence in Shanghai.
5. Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences in the Shanghai hospitality market; adjust operational and marketing strategies accordingly to maintain competitive advantage.
6. Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, brand standards, and safety protocols to protect the hotel, guests, and employees.
7. Manage the hotel’s budget, control expenses, and optimize resource allocation to maximize operational efficiency and profitability.
Requirements
1. Bachelor’s degree or above in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
2. Minimum 5 years of experience as a General Manager in international chain hotels (e.g., Marriott, Hilton, InterContinental, Hyatt).
3. In-depth knowledge and understanding of the Shanghai hospitality market, including local customer needs, industry trends, and business opportunities.
4. Proven track record of driving financial performance, improving guest satisfaction, and leading high-performing teams in a luxury or upscale hotel environment.
5. Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills; ability to make strategic decisions under pressure.
6. Proficiency in English and Mandarin (written and spoken); strong cross-cultural communication abilities.
7. Familiar with hotel management systems (PMS), financial reporting tools, and digital marketing strategies in the hospitality industry.
